Auto Load On/Off in DG's

08/12/2011 6:36 AM

Hi

In our plant we have 3 -750KVA, 1-1010 KVA DG's are running in synchornize mode. now we want to implement auto load on , off depend on load. i request you to tell what are all the factors to be considered before implemetning the system, advantages any savings expected.

I am guessing you are mentioning the load shedding system by 'auto load on/off' and you are going to implement the load shedding system for turning off the less critical loads in the case of the generating capacity is not adequate. In this case, the first thing you need to do is the grouping of the loads based on their criticalities. You can group them as critical, essential and regular. Once you do it, then decide the different generating conditions on which the loads of these groups to be turned off. For each of the load, there should be a selection switch which allows you to select the loads to a group. This requires modification of the control circuit of each and every load.

With the implementation of load shedding system, you may not expect the power savings but it will keep the critical loads running at the worst condition of the generating capacity and it may save you from production loss, production hazards or even life hazard.

There are plenty of relays available in the market for auto start, auto-synchronising and auto load sharing of DG sets. try googling.
