Maybe someone out there with a stolen laptop might know how to help.

Send it to me. I'll fix it for $100.00 USD. Oh, send the money, too.

Just send it to the P.O. box that is given in my profile. I'll have it back to you in no time.

reboot your system, press del when start up, if you are able to enter the BIOS then you will be able to reformat it.

A beginner computer technician can do it. I suggest have the task done by them and observed to avoid, reworks.

You understand what reformat means?

Everything you (or other user) has put on the laptop will be erased.

The fact that this is urgent leads me to believe there are data and or programs on there that you don't care to lose.

Well, if he is able to put the data in the data drive, D: other than C: or my docs, files could be recovered, should be no problem.

How'd you come across your Dell? I have two Dell's 1 laptop and 1 desktop. The only time I had your problem was when I induced the problem myself. There are ways of removing the pass words, But, they were put in place by the owner for situations like this

Boot into Safe Mode. Restart, holding the F8 key down until you get a menu of choices. Choose Safe Mode. When Safe Mode opens, you may be able to log in.

You are not alone. I was surprised by the number of posts online asking for help with this problem.

The link below opens a Microsoft-sponsored forum. Two of the posts suggest editing the registry to cure this problem. It's inexcusable that this bug would still be in an OS that has been on the market as long as Vista/Windows 7, but there it is. If you decide to edit the registry, please remember to create a registry backup first, write down everything you change, and be careful.

Your laptop may have been hijacked by a worm.

You can remove the drive and place it into a honey-pot machine (one you can reload in the event the infection spreads into it). You can try a commercial encase software to protect yourself if you wish.

Your honey-pot should be preloaded with all of the AV and malware software ahead of time. Boot it up and scan the affected drive. You may find the cause of the problem in the basic file structure, but it may not fully clean the drive's registry and OS dependent file structure (it's not booted into that environment). The drive can be moved back to the original box and further cleaning can be attempted there. If it cannot be cleaned (or even logged into) you may have to reload.

Before moving the drive back you should offload all of your personal files, PSTs, favorites, etc. scanning them each through a good filtering package and then burn them off to CD or copy to flash, whichever will make them easier to move back to the machine after it has been reloaded (if necessary).

These are all of the tasks a reputable "geek" company would do to save your data and give you a fresh start.

If you need a good clean reload on the computer, you should zeroize it with DBAN or something similar, then reformat and reload with your OS. Keep in mind that if a boot sector virus has infected your system, you will need a product such as Blacklight to clear that out prior to reloading, or you will be back to where you started or worse.
