Err... pardon my ignorance, but we (me and my friends on CR4) are waiting to ask...
We all know what an MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) is.
We know about lots of equipment which are SP, TP, TPN, SPN and so on. These terms are applicable to CBs, SDFs, SDs, MCBs so on...indicating Single Phase, Three Phase, Three Phase+Neutral,Single Phase + Neutral resp...
We do not know of a STANDALONE device called "SPN" or "TP".
Can you please explain a little more ? Thank you,

Actually, electrician today in my home replaced existing three MCB switch with one TP switch on one MCB Board and said it will do same work. I want to know whether like MCB, TP too trips on short circuit.
Can you post an image of your board so that we can identify the device? i suspect your electrician has taken you for a ride. He may have put in a TPN Switch with a rewirable fuse, and charged you much more. Such a device will NOT trip. In case of short circuit, the wire fuse may blow.
i may be doing an injustice to your electrician also. He may have put in a proper TPN MCB like this one ...
Is this what he put in? This one will trip in the event of overload or short circuit.

Sure, these are two TP MCBs, and a SPN MCB. They will trip in the event of an overcurrent if made by a reputed manufacturer. My apologies to your electrician.
