Cabernet

08/22/2011 8:09 PM

Don't you just hate when after a long day you pour a glass of wine and start going through email when you accidentally spill/waste a glass...and half of it goes right into the keyboard!?!? Hopefully this thing still works in the morning or I'll be off to get another

Real men don't drink wine.

Don't worry or fret

Beer - a low alcohol sparkling beverage, cause of 'brewers droop' and 'beer belly', so resultant 'all-male' company.

Another keyboard ? or another Cabernet ? i would recommend the latter.... it actually renders the entire computer redundant.

There is (or was) a Blackwood Canyon Winery in Washington State that made wines worthy of a Real Man or Woman. The place is run by a madman/genius who screwed me out of an internship/employment opportunity, but what a winemaker!

I would soak the keyboard in water to remove the wine, and then let it air dry near a heater for a couple days. Now if I can just get the bacon grease, potato chip crumbs, and coffee out of my own keyboard....

But that's nothing compared to the wild-spore chanterelles growing in the carpet of my leaky Caravan (O delights of a subarctic rain forest!)

Did you know, there's a reason why golden chanterelles are associated with abandoned vehicles, old dumps, etc. There's an obligate relationship with a soil microorganism Psuedomonas sp. - a genus well known for it's affinity for and ability to consume old petroleum products. The presence of psuedomonads in the soil makes an old dump the perfect place for chanterelles to establish... alas this may also affect their content of less desirable elements, and their taste...

BTW, if there are chanterelles in the carpet, your Caravan is not just leaky, tree roots are certainly present as well - the chanterelle is also obligate mycorrhizal and requires a tree (if not a whole forest) to supply the sugars. If no tree has rooted in the carpet, you have misidentifed the mushrooms.

Soak it in a pan of isopropyl alcohol for a couple of hours. The cheap stuff is fine. There's enough water in it to dissolve the water soluble gunk and the alcohol will aid in evaporation and removal of some of the alcohol soluable gunk. Spin it around with your hand (like a softball pitcher) to force most of the alcohol out. Dry it for at least a day in a harm spot.
