Connection of Protection Relays

i want to know where do we connect the protection relays like o/c relay, under voltage relay...

do we will connect these relays (via) current transformer which is placed in primary side or secondary side of the transformer..???

please some one explain me clearly.....

Current relays connect to the primary circuit using current transformers. Voltage and frequency (usually) connect using voltage transformers. Power, impedance, directional, and other more complex function relays usually connect to both current and voltage transformers. Where those auxiliary transformers are connected to the primary circuit depends on what you are trying to protect. If you are a beginer in protection engineering, it will be better before attemptingn to do any connection, please read carefully the engineering methods/ techniques etc. for better understanding of electrical circuits, both H.T. and L.T. ; this will save human life and equipment.
