PLC Power Supply and Card

08/25/2011 3:18 PM

Hi friends,

In one of our winding machines we have Mitsubishi made PLC with a A1S61PEU power supply unit. This power supply gets off for a short duration (msec) and gets on but an input of 230VAC will not allow it to fluctuate. I feel this problem is from the power supply. But if i want to replace the output card of the PLC with the same model is there any precautions that need to be taken?

From my knowledge we can replace any in/output card with the same model number (same applies for analog in/out put card). The program & control function is performed by the CPU. Please let me know if this is correct.

If you are going to do this yourself:

1) Verify the revision number on the card(s). Different revs may not be compatible with your machine.

2) Try cleaning the contacts for the card first. Many times a reseat is all you need.

3) Generally the program and control is in the CPU, but depending on what unit you are working with their may have been a microcontroller with a different set of instructions (PROM) on the "output card" that may be incompatible (hence the rev#).
