IP Address Ping Response

08/26/2011 11:20 AM

I have an IP based CCTV camera which is well connected in the LAN, and I have 6 different gateways. When I ping the IP address of the camera in the local network, I am getting the reply with 1 to 5 ms time delay. But when I ping the same IP from other gateway of the same LAN than I am not getting the reply. What could be the reason? Please guide.

Are your cameras hard wired or wireless?

Have you programmed the "other gateway from the same LAN" to recognize the cameras' IP address?

its hard wired (CAT6 ) cable.

s i have programmed it. But the problem is only the cameras are not getting communicated other devices like bio metric controllers and PC are getting reply when i ping

Totally i have 30 cameras. each gateway has 5 cameras. only certain cameras are not working in the other gateways.

Can you switch plugs around between working and non-working cameras/gateways?

In doing so you can eliminate the possible obvious defects such as Cat6 cable, Cameras, and Gateways.

There has to be some common denominator that you can identify to help yourself trouble shoot this.

It sounds like the non-working cameras are not being detected on the network due to programing or lack there-of somewhere in the system.

Are all the gateways programmed the same as far as recognizing the group of cameras assigned to each?

If all else fails, try contacting the camera/gateway tech support staff.

They would probably be the best resource to get all your cameras operating correctly.

I cant escalate this call to the camera manufacturer (panasonic) because the cameras are getting communicated automatically after some time. like by doing hard resetting.

Thats what my concern is !!!.

MY DOUBT IS " WHETHER THE CAMERA IS NOT SUPPORTING THE NETWORK OR THE NETWORK IS NOT SUPPORTING THE CAMERA "

OK, what about the user programmable settings (if any) of the individual cameras?

Beyond the suggestions I have made here, I am afraid I am out of anything of further value to you.

Enable IP forwarding through your gateways.
