If you are only looking for a small number of addresses, you simply open up a command prompt window and type: ping 172.16.1.3 (as an example).

If you are looking to find the whole series, you will need something like "Netscan" (no affiliation, but it works good for me) http://sg.search.yahoo.com/search?ei=utf-8&fr=slv1-msgr&p=netscan

Be warned however, anything like a laptop that is not actively running will not answer back, so be careful or you could cause yourself a lot of grief.
