Lateral Earth Resistance

08/29/2011 3:02 PM

I am writing a book, Titled T/L Engg. with the spreadsheet. I am making EXCEL templates for routine design problems in practical life. I want a good reference for BROMs method- I mean an actual document. Any body can help?

I had pasted a whole host of links for Brom's Method for you, but the dang CR4 software crashed and burned, so I'm rewriting an abbreviated posting for you.

Here's a good link where you can purchase spreadsheet calculators for BROM's METHOD for minimal cost (for both cohesive and cohesiveless soil regimes), so why develop your own with the inherent headaches involved?

http://structural-calculator.com/FOUNDATIONS.aspx

Also, the FWHA, USACE, and AASHTO websites have some significant tech manuals available for download that go into much greater detail regarding Brom's Method.

I also highly recommend Joesph E. Bowles textbook "Foundation Design" that goes into great detail about Brom's. You can download older copies of the book for free (ebooks).

Don't forget that there are other analysis methods available for pile lateral resistance and that Brom's isn't the only one you can employ!

I hope you know what you're doing in a structural engineering regard!
