How to "Idle" Motor Via Lenze 4903 DC Drive

09/01/2011 4:05 AM

Dear Friends,

I have a Lenze DC drive 4903 which I want to program for a glue roll DC motor. I want a program that when drive enables, motor should rotate say 100Rpm (idling) and when 0-10V DC speed reference comes to drive, it run the motor according to the programed max speed.

In inverter drive, there is a parameter "Min Speed" which fulfill such requirement but in this DC drive I could find nothing. Can any body help me out how to achieve such requirement?

Is the operation and maintenance manual available?

Where does your 0-10V control signal come from? The obvious way (if it's practical) would be to offset it to, say, 0.1 - 10V.

If it can't be done at source, an active circuit to introduce the offset (and compress the 0 - 10V so that it 'fits into' the remaining range) is pretty straightforward.

If the impedances of the signal source and the drive input are know, it may be possible to do it with resistors and a zener, but this would probably give a dead band (i.e. the motor speed wouldn't increase until the control voltage was above some threshold).

I am looking for a solution by programming this drive. External circuit is not a good idea. 0-10V signal comes from PLC.

I looked through the manual, and found it pretty unclear. There seems to be some mention of being able to offset the control setpoint in certain modes, but exactly how one would go about it is a mystery.

I haven't used any Lenze gear, so I'm about out of suggestions (except trying to get hold of an engineer from Lenze, or from the agent who sold you the drive, who may be able to help).
