What is the basic difference between ashok leyland old and new engines, in terms of sound they make, i.e what is the design diff of piston, combustion chamber, compression ratio?? Why do old engines make a lot of sound??

This is new to me. I knew only about British Leyland diesel engines, used in cars, taxis, and trucks, like DAF. Is someone producing this line further on?

What is Ashok?

You may want to look here.

Older engines were more mechanical less sound damping material used? Not maintained as well. Age, wear and tear....

Newer engines more electronics like fuel injectors, more sound baffles on the intake, efficient exhaust systems, engine compartment sound baffles. More hydraulics like automatic transmissions.....

Different fuel systems like CNG, Hybrid systems.....
