CT Ratio in Hydropower Plant

09/04/2011 1:08 AM

The ct ratio is chosen 20% higher than the primary current from the hydrogenerator. I have heard that there are standard values to be used eg. 200/5 etc. Could sb please reply?

for any component it is always advisable to use standard values and ratings . . .

so if you wish to select a CT with primary at 120% of flc then you will do well to actually select the next higher standard rating above 120% . . . the same may then be anything between 120% and 140% . . . no problem . . . go ahead . . .

Yes! that is correct, If you are sizing CT make sure to consider the Burden VA and even the accuracy limit factor especially if the CT is for protective relaying.
