about design of spherical shell pressure vessel

sir ,

i want to design a spherical shell with ring type nozzle on top and bottm, (specification: 200 inch inner diameter , finished thickness : 0.450 inch,internal pressure: 43.512 psig,internal temperature : 850F,external condition is atmospheric i.e. ext. pressure is 15 psig, ext. temperature:200F) through pivilite, isit possilbe that it is under safe limit,

Even with 0.1%C mild steel-you have 300% margin to Yield Point.

Dear

I'm interesting in design & fabrication of pressure vessels 30 years ago in accordance with ASME Code, Sect. VIII, Div. 1, and we hold certificates of authorization U & R.

So you are requested to specify:

1. The sphere material in according to ASME or ASTM, to find out its allowable tensile strength.

2. Design pressure used (not operating pressure).

3. Radiography used for weldment : full, spot or none?

4. Corrosion allowance recommended.

5. Fluid inside sphere, flammable and/or toxic or what?

6. Type of operation, or in other meaning : during operation is it possible to be subjected to a vacuum inside the sphere? if not, no need for external pressure calculations.

7. 850F : dO you mean 850 oF or 85 oF ?

200F : dO you mean 200 oF or 20 oF ?

Couple of comments - atmospheric pressure is 0 psig, ~ 15 psia.

You don't say what type of steel, but from from some oldish data I have, for 850°F (454°C) something better than carbon steel is needed.

What does "pivilite" mean?

Hi guys,

I think wireless power transmission is light years away. And I do not beleive in it until someone proves it in a practically way that it is possible at a relatively efficient level also.

Sure - transceiving is a one example of it - but at what efficiency level and what's the purpose of it:

  1. Is it energy transfer or
  2. Is it information transfer?

Remember, there are no miracles!

Kceum suggested that if you try to utilise the unwanted electromagnetic radiation/s from those Power Companies then they render you as a thief. I'd say they can go n get nikked and to hell with them and their radiation. Sometimes people sue them for high dose of expose to it. Instead, i would place a large inductor under their transmission lines to capture as much of their undesirable radiation energy levels as possible (especially where the cable-sag is the greaties) and make the most of it. It is only 50/60 hertz and we used to capture enough of it over night to trickle charge the aging batteries of our machineries. It did a good job because the tractor pulled up directly under the power line in the fields and the sniffer coil through a rectifier did the job.

If you call it a power theft so be it. For them it'd be better to be quiet then being sued for exposing people to high levels of radiation.
