09/12/2011 7:53 AM

I want to know standard source MVA as per voltage level to be considered during System study if source MVA is not available.

If you have no access to what is at the other end of the transmission line and/or transformer that is feeding your system then the most conservative estimate is to use an infinite bus as the source. An infinite bus provides a constant 1.0 pu (per unit) voltage source through the series impedance of the transmission line and/or transformer, which in turn provides the maximum current that can be delivered to your system. The short answer is to take the reciprocal of the sum of the two above reactances in pu and multiply the result by the base MVA. You can safely ignore the resistances until you are doing a voltage regulation study.

Thanks! But i want to know that is there any standard to assume Fault MVA(If it is not available). Say for Each Voltage level Some standard MVA we can assume.

Table II of IEC publication 76-5 for MVA rating as per voltage level. In IEEE standard I have no idea.
