silensor

I like to make silensor to avoide steam noise from the vent of a boiler.

Any one can give some details. How to make? any drg/desigb etc

Steam pressure is about 45 bar at the time of venting. And vent valve size 3 inch

It's the pressure that is the problem. So anything that reduces the vent pressure will help. Being steam the very high temp is also a problem. I will have to think on this one.

Have you thought about adaptive active noise cancellation a microphone and a 1800 phase changer fed to an amp and speaker. Some thing to try.

I've tried that before. It only works if everyone in the area is wearing Bose earphones. Better to think of the system as a really, big gun!!!

I M THINKING ABOUT SOME PIPE TO BE INSTALLED WITH SOME MATERIAL SO THAT NOISE REDUCED.

SUCH TYPE OF ARRANGEMENTS ARE USED IN POWER PLANT.

EXACT DETAILS I DON1T HAVE>

IF ANY ONE HAVE, PL COMMIUNICATE

try for some wire mesh, inside a big pipe bore welded to the vent outlet. I think it dont work here.

we did for the vent pipe, that the exhaust was dashing upon a nearby machine.

Can you install a progressive lift valve? Gun silencers work by allowing some of the gasses to escape before the built leaves the end of the silencer assy. They have an oversized hole some of witch is filled with steel wadding they have holes in the side to act as the progesive vent. As the bulit travels through it opens more holes so venting more gas. This is why you need more oomph to get the same range.

If you have a weight in a tube such that at normal pressure it will not lift (held by a spring) and when the over pressure event occurs the weight lifts, and pushes against the spring; thus opening the outlet made up of many small holes. As the pressure rises then the holes should get bigger. It could lift an outer sleeve to reveal a main vent hole at the very top.

Not only is that a clever idea, but you also explained how gun silencers work! I always wondered about that. Thanks!

This is a daily occurance in steam retorts in canning plants-do a google on what they use .The vent is on the moveable lid on a retort so a line to direct the steam to the outside is impractacle-if you are dealing with a static system then muffle and vent outside!
