2 Pole vs 4 Pole Motor

09/16/2011 2:25 AM

If power is proportional to speed x torque, then a motor with the same power have less torque for a 2 pole motor. It will therefore have less magnetising current, then why does a 2 pole motor have the same FLA has the 4 pole ,actually it has slightly more amps, one will think it will be less.

It's running st trice the speed, so the frictional losses, like air resistance to the rotor spinning, will be mre. That costs amps.

Can you check from any reputed manufacturer and give the no-load and full-load amps of two motors of same hp/kw but different(2p/4p)number of poles?.

Magnetizing current is only a small portion of the fixed losses.
