ASME Sec VIII Div:01-Code Case 2260

Dear all,

As per Codecase 2260-1, we can use formulas mentioned in above code case to calculate thk against internal pressure for torispherical heads instead of using UG-32 and appendix 1-4.

Please explain the logic behind this code case.

(Since using App 1-4 i get req thickness tr = 9.71 mm & using Codecase req thickness tr = 6.3 mm)

Please help.

Most of us probably don't have a copy of these documents on hand. Can you quote the relevant Code paragraphs and Codecase decisions? As a rough check, what is the shell thickness?
