Bioplastics will have broad prospects of development

Recently, the Japanese company Fuji Xerox announced the successful development of woody biomass series of plastic, and has made the identification of Japan Bioplastics Association. Investment Advisor in the chemical industry researcher Yi Chi thinks that woody biomass series of plastic will have better prospects of development in the future.

Yi-Chi Chang pointed out that at presently we are mostly petrochemical plastic used in plastic which mainly comes from the oil preparation. However, petroleum has the characteristics of non-renewable, in recent years as the economy continues to develop, the world's oil resources have less and less. And petrochemical-based plastics still has other larger problems of difficult in the natural state of degradation and pollution of the environment, this makes the R & D and production of renewable, environmentally friendly features of bio-plastics being focus by research and plastics industry.

According to related statistics, the main component of the oil is mainly plastic polyethylene or polystyrene,which are difficult to degrade in the natural state and easy to pollute the environment. If directly burning will generate a lot of carcinogens in the combustion process,so be harmful to human health. At presently we are more aware of environmental protection, development of alternative products for petrochemical-based plastics becoming very urgent needs. The bio-plastic in nature can be microbial degradation of water and carbon dioxide to meet the requirements of environmental protection,which highly favored by people.

Yi-Chi Chang pointed out that the current level of progress with the technology, the world range has developed corn, sugar cane and other sources of bio-plastics of different materials.Among them, the corn-based biological plastic application range is very large. However, because currently the development of downstream applications of the plastic is very rapidly, the demand for plastic is larger,if corn-based bio-plastic want to fully replace petrochemical-based plastics, there are still some difficulties, So now some companies and research institutes are working on rich biological raw materials of wood plastic.

Currently, the United States, Britain, Germany, Japan and other countries have introduced a number of bio-plastics business, but because the problem of high cost has not been large-scale application. If the future as the technology level of progress, the problem of the high cost of bio-plastics can be effectively solved, petrochemical-based plastics will be gradually replaced by bioplastics.
