Tray Earth

Hi all,

Need your expertise, the electrical cable ladder was mounted on the steel structure, is it necessary to put earthing ocnductor connect to grid? and what was the distance between if the ladder running 700 meter along the pipe rack.

1. Provide ground jumpers between the tray sections, either on one side or both.

In conjunction with the ground jumpers, the tray sections can also be bonded to the pipe rack at predetermined intervals provided the pipe rack is grounded (I assume it is).

OR

2. Provide a continuous bare ground conductor the length of the tray, bonded with a cable clamp every 7 feet.

The continuous bare conductor can also be bonded to the pipe rack at predetermined intervals.

3. Ground the tray/bare ground conductor at both ends.

The bonding jumpers and cable clamps should be readily available through the cable tray manufacturer.

Without having access to site specific specifications, it is difficult to provide you with anything beyond the generic explanation above.
