Is gain a dimensionless or having dimension..i am saying its having dimension..but in all text books i am founding it dimensionless..if the input and the output are expressed as percentage then gain is dimensionless..is am i right???

Doorman deleted post.

Never mind. I have no response.

Homework anyway. Look at the other posts.

gain most definitely has dimension especially after a few kids and 25 years of marriage.

In the relevant context, it is dimensionless.

Answer this...is a percentage dimensionless? This is obviously a homework assignment. OK, input is 4 pigs, output 24 weeks later is 4 pigs and 12 piglets (this represents a gain). The 12 piglets are 300% larger than the input in quantity and 10% larger in weight. Are the 12 piglets dimensionless?

This is just too much fun.

It all depends on the type of gain that one is considering. I agree that this sounds like a homework problem, so I'm not going to fully explain the answer but I will point down the path to the answer. Look into the gain of a transconductance amplifier and then figure out if there are any units for this.
