generally but not always ,there is an outside cover over the generator--open the cover--there should be a start switch there somewhere--check you have fuel and push the switch--no start?? try a shot of carb cleaner down the throat>>starts??-clean the carb--worst case scenario--take it to a RV dealer and have the tech give you a quick rundown and/or diagnose the problem--relatively cheap for the education

Usually I just read the manual rather than try and model the system.

In addition to what Aseer and JAT mentioned, depending upon the system size and configuration, if wired through an ATS (automatic transfer switch) there should be an exercise switch or a manual run switch located on or in the ATS.

Personally, I would go with JAT's suggestion of reading the manual. Sometimes the easiest and most overlooked solution makes the most sense.
