The past practice in our LPG processing plant is to use raw water from the fire water system to clean pressure vessels of carbon steels during shutdowns. Although we have not experienced any serious corrosion issues for the past 30 years the internal trays have been observed with rust scales. The process is recovery of Propane, Butane and Naphtha from Associated gas.
What is the best water quality to be used for cleaning pressure vessels during shutdowns. What damge can the raw water cause? Appreciate your expert advice please.
