Expansion Joints in Foundation

10/24/2011 7:35 AM

Dear All,

It has been observed that in many industrial buildings, the expansion joints are provided only above the foundation ( column and beams) structure.

Why it is not required at foundation portion. any specific reason behind these?

Please clarify the same.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, there are many reasons, all of which would be known to someone with education, knowledge and experience as a Civil Engineer.
