Because they don't know the words to the song?

Because the song is instrumental only (no words).

KJK, in music jargon, that would be known as a "piece"....

Humming sound is due to laminated core type transformer. The more the force applied to core laminations to hold together the less the sound is heard. That is why the whole laminated core is impregnated after bonding the laminated sheets to together by non metallic ropes or bolts & nuts thru holed laminations but insulation is provided between bolt from lamination not to get shorted otherwise eddy current will be very high and core becomes as oven or heater. This problem I had during design and testing of the L=7.5mH, 1200Amps & 2.5Kv Voltage DC choke that was used in Thyristor (SCR) control AC Power supply to two 1420HP DC motors in Locomotive(traction) project.

This sound is generated due to 50Hz or 60Hz frequency force attraction and repulsion between the laminations. The humming sound is low frequency sound.

Very good explanation. And it taught me something, too.

For years I have assumed that transformers hummed because they were happy. Now, I find that ther are humming because they are excited..

The OP's name might be misconstrued in some cultures.

Always good to learn something...the name means "East" ...which is supposed to be an auspicious direction, sunrise being a good thing.

Where is it not a nice name?
