Factor to Be Considered for Motor Frame Size Selection.

Hi every one what are the factor to be considered for the motor frame size selection.As far my knowledge factors are

1) Kw/HP of motor 2) Rated speed of motor are any other factor to be considered?

You need to consider the shaft center height from the base, shat extension and the shaft diameter of the driven equipment only for motor frame size selection. For the given kW/HP and Speed the motor frame sizes are standardised. Rather they are "pre-considered" in the Standards.

Bingo. Also the type of mounting, i.e. Base, face etc,. But that is technically separate from the frame size selection.

Is 'center height from the base' is applicable of the vertical mounting motors?

In addition to your point, I wish to add that the Vibration level interms of Amplitude, Frequency, Velocity and Acceleration to be considered.

Some times over the frame thick MS plate ( to the extent of 12 MM to 20 MM) will have to be provided to improve the rigidity of the frame.
