Can you help me with this gear material

I need to know can I substitute 37Mn Si5 with EN8 or any other material

It depends on what the design specifications are....There are certainly gears made from EN8 medium carbon steel, and in general application would be ok, but if your gears are going to be subjected to extreme conditions of some nature then that should be specified.. 37Mn Si 5 is cold work tool steel, tough stuff...

the gear is used in pug mill to feed clay
