	It depends on what the design specifications are....There are certainly gears made from EN8 medium carbon steel, and in general application would be ok, but if your gears are going to be subjected to extreme conditions of some nature then that should be specified.. 37Mn Si 5 is cold work tool steel, tough stuff... http://www.matbase.com/material/ferrous-metals/high-grade-steel/37mnsi5/properties __________________ All living things seek to control their own destiny....this is the purpose of life
