Hi all,
in building/oil/petrol/ship construction normally who produce the shop drawing
is it the main designer or the sub-contractor.
What is shop drawing by the way?
Shop drawings are engineering drawings based on design drawings, normally the sub contractor or the contractor submit these drawings to the consultant to get his approval before starting the the work. These drawings show in details the way that how the construction will be .These drawings will be used by erection team. Normally they contain enlarged views and/or sections for more details .After that ''As Built drawings" should be submitted by the same to show exactly what has been implemented with exact dimensions.
Our new friend Azat A. Rifat has it pegged pretty well. I would vote that a GA.
I usually describe a shop drawing as a graphic representation of items that I intend to provide for a project. This intention is based on information contained in the project documents. These submittal drawings and material schedules are prepared specifically for a particular project. After these submittal drawings and data are reviewed by the design professionals for conformance with the specifications and general intent of that particular portion of a project, review notes are made by the design team and the submittals are returned to me for action. This action might be to revise the drawings and material schedules and resubmit for another review, or it might be to proceed as submitted.
And now you have to produce the items as submitted, with very little tolerance for variance from the submitted information.
