1/2 Hp DC Thru Shaft Gear Motor

12/02/2011 10:38 PM

I have a 1/2 hp Gear motor now using a chain and sprocket drive.

I would like to change the design to a thru shaft.

I require 180 to 210 RPM and 320 to 400 Foot Lbs. of torque.

The end use numbers can be over 150 year.

Right now I need two.

(195 x 360) / 5252 = 13.36 HP

This would require more magic than we can muster.

K Fry is correct. If you are using a 1/2 HP motor now, then you should check your figures.

I want to thank all for your input. I learned something new (for me) today.

My base information was incorrect. What I need is torque 170 inch lb. and RPM of 180.

If you can teach, I can learn

DC gearmotors are a higher maintenance option. I would be looking into an AC Variable speed drive set up. Maintenance costs are less.

You can also have a look at Nord. They have a good selection of gearmotors. You're torque/speed/Hp combination is very close to the catalog specs for Flexbloc gearmotors (pg B34). They have a variety of gearbox types to choose from.

Boston Gear is another brand with a decent selection. We use both brands.

Good luck.
