Also note you will struggle to lift 1200lbs without a skirt using an air compressor alone. The skirt will also give you stability and control of the load, designs, the skirt is probably the easiest part of the design.

I am thinking about using a 12 inch inter tube from a bicycle as a skirt. I did not know if I used three if it would be heavy enough to lift the saw. I was thinking that it would be better than on big inter tube. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

buy some schedule eight pipe in 10 foot lengths and roll it to where you want it to go for gods sake. Borrow or rent a heavy lift pry bar with steel wheels and lift up the saw and place the pipe under it as it is moved to allow for an easy move -dont reinvent the wheel.

I agree with #4... But if you have plenty of time and willing to accept a few trial & errors you might also consider using small rockets ... 4- one on each corner... (kiddin)

Excellent method of moving heavy weights in restricted areas.

You need a fairly smooth floor

You need three air lifts for balance, equalisation, and size reduction of lift pad.

You should calculate your pad area fromA=1200/P divide by 3

P= psi

A = sq inch

You will be surprised how little air pressure you need

Inner tubes might not be tough enough, try wheel barrow tubes if you must three of these would have plenty of lift. Try not to make them any deeper than you have to.Leakage air and tube air is set to same pressure

You need a center balance point on top of each pad to allow leveling action to take place, make sure your top plate is strong enough.

make sure your air volume tank is big enough unless you have a large air compressor.

Good luck

Garth,

Thank you for the help I will try the math and see what I come up with. I am looking for a mobile base that will be out of the way when not in use. From what little I have found about the air caster it sound like a good option. If I can make it work.
