Generally:

A7 for minor parts such as handrail

A325 High strength bolts, can be used in bearing or friction joints.

A490 High strength bolts (higher than A325), can be used in bearing or friction joints.

See the RCSC Specification for Structural Joints Using A325 or A490 Bolts. Latest edition, 2009

rajesh...

The design drawings developed for the particular steel structure must show the type of bolts/fasteners selected by the engineer.

When the joint strength was calculated, a certain bolt type and size was selected.

Some joints are designed for the higher strength bolts, some are not.

Bolt types are determined by the marking on the bolt head

Is it a tower, a shed, a pipe rack, an elevator shaft or what?
