"Load History"

12/08/2011 11:42 AM

What does "load history" mean? Is it something specific to FEA? Can someone give me a general meaning and use of this term please?

Thank you,

It means the same thing as one of these. If you want a clearer answer you should provide more details. Any acronym (FEA) in your description should be defined to prevent confusion.

I didn't mean to cause any confusion, but I thought this was a Mechanical Engineering blog. FEA stands for Finite Element Analysis, which I thought was a pretty general term in engineering. Do you know what "load history" is with respect to Finite Element Analysis?

The sequence of application of loads (loading history) may be important. Especially, plastic deformations depend on a manner of loading. This is a reason for dividing loads into small increments in nonlinear FE analysis.
