The latest way airlines are cashing in - selling items from your lost luggage.

Aside from selling it, what would you have them do with it?

It might be better if they were to donate these items to the Salvation Army or some other organization like this to do "there part" in helping the poor after getting rich off the rest of us travelers.

Do not get me wrong, I am by no way a bleeding heart who is out to save the world, but this to me would be a good case to make donations that cost the airlines nothing.

I know over the years, I myself have left hundreds in sunglasses, etc behind in the seat pockets, I'm sure most of us have as well.

There is an outlet store in my state that sells items from lost and found. The airlines have lots of items that were lost and presumed abandoned by their owners. The airlines hold these items for a period of time to see if anyone claims them. The airline makes an effort to locate the owners by inspecting the contents of the luggage for an address. A lot of items, like CD players are left in seat back pockets and nobody claims them. That person may be enroute via a connecting airline and won't go back to retrieve a lost item that may be thousands of miles away; so it ends up in lost and found and eventually put on sale to the public.

Thanks to all.

I assume it was not the left-over but Not-Found at the Luggage Outlet either due to not loaded at the start point or taken by other people before the owner comes to collect the luggage.

Here in US No rep of Airline there to check if the only owner is taking the baggage by the slip of your luggage. So anybody wandering there just pickup any item and goes out.
