Power Factor

01/08/2012 11:26 AM

hello guys

can anyone tell me about the formula of capacitor for power factor calculation i.e for a 3hp single phase motor how many micro farad capacitor is used for power factor calculation......be sure i m not asking for that capacitor which is used between start and running winding for phase difference......

I'm truly amazed at the names/titles people give themselves.

I especially laugh at those who call themselves "engineer" while asking the most basic of questions, such as power factor or conductor sizing.

Why can't they be perfect, like we are?

Well, i know about you. However, i made a mistake in the 78th decimal place of pi way back in 1966, so i can't claim to be perfect...so i tolerate some ignoramuses.... er, ignorami ???

You should relax, take ten deep breaths and consider your responses.

Don't be so sensitive and try to think before you type something that you may regret later makes you look childish.

And, never, ever engage in a war of words with either of us.

Have a good day.

Why so angry with Lyn, king.faisel?

Although he complained about possible absence or effectiveness of your searches, he gave you a link to a very good explanation of how to work out PF correction capacitor value.

And his suggestion was number 7 in the list got by a Google search for "Motor power factor correction capacitor". Several of those sooner in the list look equally good.

Possibly, since your post writes only of "calculation" (without using "correction"), you searched for "......calculation" and got a poor result. Lyn understood what you really meant and gave a good answer.

I am forced to quote an old Indian Script yet again: "Vidhyaa Dhadhaathi Vinayam"; roughly translated it means "education should lead a person to politeness and humility". One cannot be arrogant, particularly, while seeking knowledge.
