In my steel plants we had a radiation survey meter on the bench where the samples from each heat analyss were prepared. If a sample was radioactive this meter would sound alarm. This was not analysis for radioactive elements; it was detection of radioactive contamination. Another best practice was more sensitive detectors at the gates where scrap materials were brought into plant. Thus we would refuse any load that sounded the alarm. Milo

Radioactive elements should be controlled from melt chemistry which must be in conformance with alloy standards.

How exactly does one 'control Radioactive elements from melt chemistry?'

How does one remove radioactive elements from scrap charge, or molten metal?

What are alloy standards for radioactive elements?
