And, we can point out for dmtonyole, that the mip0223 and its family members are 700V-capable offline PWM switchers, used to make 5 to 90-watt power supplies for devices ranging from cell-phone battery chargers to small LCD monitors, etc. The Y version comes in a three-pin TO-220 package, as if it was simply a MOSFET, but in fact it's an entire regulating switcher IC with a built-in high-voltage power MOSFET. Another clever 3-pin design solution for a complex function. Very convenient.

The mip0223 is the rectangular 3-pin circuit in the lower-left of the schematic above, which is for a 4.4V, 560mA charger.

It was introduced by Panasonic in 1998, and SFAICT the part is still active, but Panasonic's website no longer admits its existence, and mainline electronic-component distributors have stopped carrying it. I have app notes and other documents for this part if the O.P. needs them. If necessary, it could probably be replaced by similar 3-pin ICs from other manufacturers.
