Maximum Demand In Malaysia

01/24/2012 2:18 AM

Hi, Guys,

This is my 1st posting (just bumped to this forum).

Let me introduce myself, my name is M.Pathma and I am attached to Promosys Technology (www.mypromosys.com), as Marketing Manager.

Personally I am a technical guy and good in electronics, okay in LV Electrical and suck at HV Electrical....

We are currently providing Plant Wide Maximum Demand Monitoring/Controlling, which aim to reduce or better manage your consumption and reduce MD Penalty.

My question;

1. I am entrusted to find out how TNB (the only utility provider in Malaysia) compute the MD. (p.s I have basic knowledge on MD calculation, my question is specifically how TNB compute this, I know it's 30-min, is it rolling window, does they send sync pulse, when the t-0 start if no sync pulse.....)

2. I could not get the much information from TNB, they website give two line statements as follows, http://www.tnb.com.my/business/for-commercial/maximum-demand.html

please note that we have a solution in place and it's giving some result, I just wanted to make sure that we have most accurate method of calculation so that we can enjoy better saving.

Promosys solution is packaged as "Solution as a Service", meaning we reduce MD within customer factory and share the reduce penalty, customer does not invest a penny (in malaysia we call this a sen), after x period of time, the whole solution belong to customer.

So the more accurate computation is important.

We are also open for partnership with knowledgeable members on a "win-win-proposal"

I'd hire a local consultant, with proper credentials and certification/registration, to perform this study. You are, after all, getting paid for this service, right?

Hi,

In a polite way you can say that, the idea is to better manage customers MD usage/penalty so that they pay less to utility company.

Thanks for reading my post.

hi,

MD can be calculated based on your consumption which is recorded on your trivector meter. In order to avoid excess MD you have to moniter your Power factor, any additional loads and also it is better to go for energy audit.
