Energy Meter Reading Difference

02/01/2012 5:10 PM

What could be the reason of very high unit difference in two energy meters one at sending end other at receiving end?

Sending end side is L&T TVM meter and receiving end side is Conzerv EM6400

Maybe the're measuring two different aspects of energy usage...Could be line loss..

Well the word "calibration" comes first to my mind. The next concept that comes to me is faulty measurement technique. Then there's also the concept of error analysis and instrument tolerances.

But if you think for one minute that I'm going to beg you for details on what are you measuring, how are you measuring it and why do you think that's a big difference you've got another thing coming!

redfred,

Please wipe you chin...I think I can see a bit of sarcasm or sinicism stuck there...

No that I could blame you given the lack of detail in the question.

Regards,
Sapper

I was beginning to think that I was being to subtle. I really don't want to drive people away. I do understand that people who don't know what is happening, don't know what is relevant information. But come on people give us some information to work with. More importantly when we ask an OP a question it's to try and figure out what is happening so that we can help them. Answer our questions, please.

Very bad line or someone between two ends "steals" some energy. On the other hand if receiving end gives higher readings, be the next to announce perpetual energy system on this forum. S.M.

Defective meter, meter calibration, bad connection at one end, bad wiring between them, low power factor at the load.
