Gantt Program

02/05/2012 4:47 AM

Hello fellow CR4 members.

I find myself in a strange part of the world and need to use my lap top to make project planning. Problem is I do not have MS Project Planner on my lap top.

Would anyone know of a link that I can quickly down load this or any sort of gant style worksheet from?

Free preferably, but most important quickly. I have wasted a bunch of time finding a local shop and purchasing Office 2010 but no luck.

A free cross-platform, open source Gantt program can be had here. I use have used both MS Project and Gantt and feel that Gantt does a good job with the basics. Gantt is an actively developed project, so it continues to expand and keep up with the latest operating systems.

Oh, Gantt will import and export MS Project files. So anything you do with this program can be folded back into your MS Project hen you get home. Win-win.

SolarEagle,

I am sorry and I was probably not politically correct as I very rarely am anyway and you were in fact the first to reply with many options. Yes sir THANK YOU, it was just that the following link after yours was exactly what I was looking for, there for he got my vote for GA.

If there is a problem with that, my apoligies....

Again thank you for your fast reply, sorry if your feathers are ruffled.

Tim

Microsoft makes Project available as a free download that's good for (I think) 30 days. That may be long enough to meet your needs.

Microsoft Project Planner is a template that works on Excel versions 2003 and later. I opened it in OpenOffice 3.2 (also a free download) on my ten-year-old Power PC Mac. There were no purchase arrangements on the web page, and no indication that this template would cease to function after some arbitrary trial period. Here is the download:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/project-planner-TC001219773.aspx

Microsoft provides quite a bit of excellent free software, and publishes many very useful "how-to" articles. I didn't know this template existed until I read your post. Thanks for the tip. I hope you get some mileage out of mine.

Good luck.

There's a 30 day Microsoft Project trial you can download and use. When I was doing my course work for Project Manager, they had us use that because the trial period was just the right amount of time for the class and they scheduled the class around that trial period. Just look up MicroSoft Project and you should find the 30 Day trial. You should also be able to find templates for Gantt Boxes in Excel and Visio.
