Flat Formation or Trefoil Formation

02/05/2012 10:56 AM

For 132 kV Power Cable (1x630 sq mm), which laying method is better for the same installation condition, Flat formation or trefoil formation?

the trofil arrangement is better than the flat due to reduce the magnetic field which create from passing the current through the cable

In order to lay cables in formation, 3x630sq mm will be required, especially for trefoil.

Holy cow! 132kV @ 630mm. If you're dealing with the kind of power that can be put through this size set-up, you should know what you're doing! Please find someone that knows what they're doing before someone gets killed!!!

Trefoil is definitely best, but each core of the cable would be shielded for earth leakage protection anyway - as it is for any HV cable. You will need three cores for TRI foil - that's just how it works.
