Re: How To Find Out Direction Of Current H.T. Line

The safest way is to find out where the generation plant is. To mess with high tension lines which could carry voltages beyond 50,000 volts will kill, anyone who does not have the correct equipment and the knowledge to use them.
I thought I was trained but got zapped a few times. Thanks to God I am still alive.
That being said, measuring the AC voltage between different polls will give the direction. Assuming there is enough of a load to pull one side down.

Step 1; grab hold of a HT line with your RIGHT hand (see "Right Hand Rule")
Step 2; with no shoes, touch your LEFT foot to a grounded structure, such as the tower frame itself.
Step 3; Have a friend on the ground, a safe distance away, observe the direction in which your charred corpse twists as it burns. If it twists to your left, the current was flowing to the right and vice versa.
