Power Transformer

03/03/2012 7:32 AM

Dear friends,

1. What is the maximum kVA rating of dry type transformer?

2. Dry type transformer coming under power transformers types?

3. Why we are not choosing dry type transformer for high kVA ratings?

Thanks in advance

To ask a question like 3↑ is really silly - how on earth would you expect a bunch of strangers to know your organisation's power transformer selection criteria and purchasing procedures?

Obviously the biggest problem with any transformer is getting rid of the heat. Space and the available cooling would be two deciding factors for not using them.

i) I have read from manufacturers' catalogues that dry type transformers are available upto 33kV, 10MVA Capacity too.

ii) Yes! Very much! Dry Type transformers are power transformers too!

iii) Higher kVA obvioulsy means higher voltage rating. At present days technology, insulation is still a problem with dry type transformers at higher voltages.

Why you didn't ask "how many types of dry type trnsformers are available, insulations used, winding materials used",advantages/disadvantages over oil filled types and so on?

1. Maximum kVA rating is depends on the production capacity of Manufacturing firm.

2.Normally one transformer is not installed under another transformer.

3.we dont know, why you are not choosing it.
