Hi to all,
I snagged this photo from a recent 'Caption This' post (one of my favorite hangouts
), and wondered about our attitudes regarding resourcefulness.

Although I'm not sure where this photo is from, I did live in China for several years, and I must say, it changed my attitude completely regarding being resourceful ... doing whatever it takes, to get the job done.
I was one of "those guys" who, growing up in the States, considered it somehow 'below me' to do whatever it took to get something done. Sure, there are issues of hazard and safety, and I am not talking about pushing those limits (nor about this what this photo depicts in particular), but I've learned that 'doing whatever it takes' beats doing nothing ... or worse, expecting someone else to come to your rescue.
[Recently, I see more an more folks standing by the road, wearing placards, waving passers-by to come to some store ... before, I used to be amused at their antics, often freezing their buns off, or getting soaked in the rain ... now, I give 'em a wave and a smile, because their working, and not just asking for a hand-out ... God help me when I am that place in life, because someday I might be]
So, I guess my attitude has changed. I applaud the resourcefulness of folks who, rather than only complaining about how things are, find a way to get the job done. It may not be elegant, and it often isn't pretty, but at least they are moving 'forward'.
What do you think?
Kind regards ...
