Surge Arrestor and Power Conditioner

03/13/2012 2:54 PM

i have analysed power supply and following is observed

-surges of 700 to 900 Vac for 4msec appeared

-over voltages of 440 v to 460. system voltage is 400 volts

if i use isolation transformer will it stop surges as well.

pl also suggest something.

Only if you put the saturation isolation transformer on the motor system at your facility that is producing the back EMF spike. Then you can solve this spike problem for you and your neighbors.

Redfred, what tells you that the spikes are coming from his equipment? Could they be coming from the mains?

They easily could be coming from the mains but then one won't know how much energy is involved to select the correct saturation level for the transformer.

03/14/2012 1:59 AM

i want to connect a voltage regulator with each machine, following specs will be enough?

Branded automatic voltage regulator, with isolation transformer, 30 KVA, 3 phase, 50 Hz, voltage regulation 1%, what will be response time.(this regulator will filter the surges?)

Hi,

Can you send me a waveform capture.I would like to know if the surge is impulsive or oscillatory. I would like to know how often this occurs.

Surge arrestors can protect against surges usually they protect against high surges due lightning. If you have rectifers or power supplies then a suitable surge arrestor designed for sensitive devices" 30m" maybe offered.

All depends on the type of the surge and duration and where it originates.

You may also contact your nearest Schneider Electric branch to assist i selecting the best arrestor for your application.
