Rebuilt Salvage Title

What do you mean by " clean title"? A clean title means there is no outstanding dept on the car..(no liens)...I would contact your local dept of motor vehicles for requirements to title salvaged vehicle....What country are you in?

From a Okla. view there is always a way around a title some legal and some not. But the best is to, when you chose to rebuild a salvaged vehicle, car, boat, motor, is to buy another and use your salvagable parts to 'refurbish' the second and sell it as such..Everyone is honest and above board. Kind of like doing business. You have a 'clean' title and a good satisfied customer...

Your State/Country may be different. Its about law, not opinions.

It can be made "not salvage" by repairing it to the extent it is like new.

"Salvage" implies that the Insurance Company and State agree its unsafe to drive or not repairable, or too expensive to repair. Usually something like a bent/broken frame or multiple damage that exceeds 2/3rds of the vehicles value. So its basically pointless.

Problem with newer vehicles is that their frames are not repairable, once bent, they are junk, since they are not made of I beams and thick sections of steel, they are made from stamped tin foil with structural shapes that give the frame strength. The frame can be damaged and you cant see it.

Beware of fraudulent sellers (if youre looking to buy) that pretend they have rebuilt a salvaged car for "a couple hundred dollars" because they are lying.

I saw a salvaged Corvette on Craigslist two years ago, the owner was lying about "I replacd a hood and its good as new"

Sorry Dave, It appears that we have read different parts of the WAC (Washington Administrative Code). The WAC does not allow a vehicle with a title that has been branded as "Salvage" to ever be put back in service. It does allow a "Salvage" vehicle to be rebuilt and titled as "WA Rebuilt" as long as it can pass a State Police safety inspection and meets certain age and market-value criteria. Failure to disclose that the vehicle was rebuilt from a salvage car and/or its parts is fraud.

The strange part about the WA codes is that they don't seem to specify what happens if it doesn't meet the age and/or market value threshold criteria. I agree of course that the laws vary by state, and anybody who chooses to act as their own lawyer (or uses the advice of forums like this for anything other than educational purposes only) should be reminded that they have a fool for a client.
