ASME B16.5 Flange-Bolt Standard

03/21/2012 5:35 AM

In flanges of ASME B16.5 standard, bolt diameters are given in inches.

What is the dimensional standard to which the bolt refer?

is it as per Unified Inch Screw Threads (UN and UNR Thread Form) ASME B1.1 ?

(In TEMA table D-5 and table D-5m Bolt data are given in inches and in milimetres.)

Regards

From ASME Section II, Part A, and under the title of bolt material like SA 193, you can find the reference standards which includes ANSI B1.1 for Screw Threads and ANSI B1.13M for Metrric Screw Threads.

Yes, ASME B1.1, Class 2 course series is "recommended" per ASME B16.5-2009 Table 1C. Also, review any requirements of the CODE of construction as well.
