Good News For Drinkers

03/28/2012 2:11 PM

I'm guessing that the effect would be the same if I don't drink during the week and drink 14 in a row on the weekend.................that would average out to 2 drinks a day.

Yippie!!!!!

Yes. I believe that getting your prescribed dosage with friends is very important. Laughing has also proven to prolong life. Combining them is probably best.

Just don't boil it in a microwave....................it cooks off the beneficial alcohol.

Wow, this is really interesting. I can do a little more research and turn this into a BioMed blog post!

Stay tuned for next week's blog!

Cool!

I just reread the article and the news gets better:

While moderate drinking reduced the risk of death, men who consumed 30 grams or more of alcohol a day were as likely to die as non-drinkers.

I think this means that men that push their drinking past 30 grams a day, have the same risk of dying as people that don't drink at all.

Sweet!!!

Yeah, I think the death rate is no more than 100 % for both categories!

Cheers!

Just what sort of "research" had you in mind?

Well I'll start with some book and online research....But I might need to do that at a bar, with a drink in my hand...

So you'll be interviewing the heart attack survivors....you have noticed the research only applies to this class?

Here's a little more encouraging research.

http://www.timesofmalta.com/articles/view/20110808/health-fitness/Alcohol-named-top-stress-reliever.379310

The people that say that alcohol is no good for stress, are weirdo pc psychologists that don't have lives of their own.

Or friends. They sit around and fret about what everybody else is doing.

Good looking group of American fellows there.

It used to be that the over-the-ponders could outdo us. I don't think so any more.

(okay, shoot )

That could be on the other side of the pond. I just pulled up a random bar scene off the web. I probably haven't had a drink in a bar in almost a decade.

The DUI laws are pretty darned strict..................which I don't have a problem with. Lots of people still do it though..................the cops round up hundreds of them every week.

I got a full blown DUI conviction back in 1996 after 2 drinks. BAC was .09. Limit is .08. First offense and they threw the book at me. I haven't driven after drinking since. It's a revenue source that is run by crooks.

Remember, when a non-drinker wakes up in the morning, that's as good as he's going to feel all day.

I just had 15 grams of Don Julio in honor of the project.

I'll take copious notes.

I think it's possible that they knew about this years ago, and the pc police and wine snobs told us it was only wine, because of their disdain for the working man's drink.

Yep...............a giant cover up.

How many lives were lost that could have been saved by beer and liquor?

We may never know.

I will send the one guy I work with in my place. I guarantee he has studied and analyzed this topic far harder and longer than most all of you combined.

He knows this subject so well I wont even have to tell him where you are meeting. The odds are he will already know how to find you to!

Re: Good News For Drinkers

There's a time and place for everything.......................work ain't the place for alcohol.

I'm my own dog trainer. I use the promise of a few beers after work or a rager on the weekend as a reward system for busting my a** at work. It's worked well for decades.

Only a truly disturbed person would want alcohol and work intermingled.

Work= Money

Then you can take some of the money and buy alcohol for fun times in between work.

I always felt sorry for the guys that couldn't make it through a day without drinking....................................the worst part was, that they thought that nobody knew.

Re: Good News For Drinkers

I'm going to have to send this to Mum. Dad had a pace maker fitted 10 years ago (just had his first replacement) after his heart would just stop beating. This happened after he'd finally got over the ileostomy.

Following the pacemaker fitting, most of his left arm went black, he lost all his finger nails and was is a lot of pain. The docs put him on steriods. My Mum put him on port and red wine. Apparently, whenever he went for a check up and they said he could reduce the steriod dose, he pointed out he already had!

Anyhoo - he still drinks a couple of bottles a week, but now white not red, and Mum moans that he drinks too much. She's allergic to alcohol that hasn't been distilled, so doesn't drink very much or very often.

Previous work suggested that women heart attack survivors may benefit from lower quantities of alcohol, perhaps half as much.

Thanks - he's hale and hearty (pun intended) for a man of his age. Still working, drives coaches, and will be doing some fence-building over Easter. I have him booked after that for some DIY at my place! Best get some more wine in....
