High Voltage Metering CT

04/04/2012 5:01 AM

Dear All,

I have experienced noise from metering CT class 0.5 1200:600/1/1/1/1A (132KV switchyard), after opening its panel there is 3 wire, 1 of them is capictor voltage terminal that is separate from ground strip. I want to know from where this voltage will develop and if next times this event repeat itself, do we need to panic?

Does this effect CT normal operation?

Use of a Positron type electronic device may be required to offset the ground potential rise which causes noise on the circuit
