Worm and Worm Wheel Set

04/06/2012 8:31 AM

Dear all,

We have two set of worm and worm wheel for use at our coal mill. The no embossed on those are as follows:-

1) Worm wheel 1 - 435101 94/5 6933D JEU 1.80 2 61 176 90 015 06

2) Worm wheel 2 - 435101 94/5 6931D JEU 1.95 2 61 176 90 015 06

3) Worm 1 - 435105 94/5 20 788 2 61 176 90 018/05

4) Worm 2 - 435105 94/5 20 786 2 61 176 90 018/05

I am confused that which worm is matching with which worm wheel and why. I also want to know how I read those designation and able to recognise the correct set. Please discuss in details.

Regards,

Is there a manufacturer? Especially for gears, manufacturers tend to use number/letter series to represent the gear's specs.

For example, one number might represent center distance. Another might refer to mounting position. And another may refer to mounting ratio. Yet another may refer to its envelope.

You may find this guide helpful: http://www.globalspec.com/learnmore/motion_controls/power_transmission/gears/worms_worm_gears

Finally, it seems as though your two worms are matching pairs.

Had you tried to contact OEM for these gear sets? These markings are OEM specific and de-coding these numbers is not so easy.

Even if you had specified manufacturer, sombody who have used gear boxes from same manufacturer could have relied you.
