Relation Between Load Cell mv Output And Its Weight

04/11/2012 6:39 AM

In my belt scale, the load cell sensitivity is 3mV/V. Its excitation is 12VDC. There are two loads are connected to belt scale. we are adjusting and balancing the load cell output to 14mV at the time of calibration. Pls tell what is the relation between load cell output voltage and its weight. The capacity of load cell is 300kg

Any worthwhile response requires sight of the instrument, its model number and part number, manufacturer, and its original calibration certificate. None of those can be seen from here.

However, if the thing's calibration is being adjusted, any original calibration certificate will be worthless.

Okay, the sensitivity of your load cell is 3 (mV/V) = Full Scale Output (mV) / Excitation Voltage (12VDC).

That means that full scale output is 36 mV with an excitation voltage of 12 VDC.

If your load capacity is 300 kg, then 300 kg = 36 mV, or 120 µV per kg (for each load cell).

AH's figures are good for a perfect world. All load cells are different and there are different types. If there was a direct relationship it would not be necessary to calibrate the scale.

1 kg = 120 µV.

Dear all,

Thanks for all of your answers.

I think we are calibrating the integrator for our belt scale. We need to calibrate the load cell also. How to calibrate a load cell, if possible in the location itself?

You could put known, calibrated, masses on the belt scale.

You cant calibrate the loadcells.

No, you calibrate the electronics that read them.

Keep in mind that 3.0 is the nominal value of the loadcell. the actual output from your particular load cell will vary a bit.

Also belt scales need to be checked to ensure they are still accurate when in motion.

Sorry guys i change this coversation but i am in a problem which i shared with you peoples...If we know the electronic power of the electronic equipment.Generally how many percent of this electronic power will be contributed to heat load?
