Bus Bar

04/12/2012 8:52 AM

In the previous post of Busbars everyone have mentioned about bus bar area ie only the about width and thickness. What about the length of bus bar to be used, whose resistance plays an important role in deciding the ampacity of busbar?

i have seen a formula,

where A=Area, I= Current capacity, N= no of conductors

I want to know if it is a valid formula or not?

Besides i want to know the bus bar size calculation for a dc system.

Sorry for asking, because i only know the purpose of Busbars, never been to select and design the size of it before, i know how to select according to ratings just like others it is not so difficult, but some conditions have to considered before selection such as its properties, its application,no of busbars etc. I know you guys are great experts, if you feel my questions as itchy i can stop here. Once again sorry....
